e-Liquid Ingredients

Have you ever wondered exactly what the ingredients are that make up e-Liquids?  This is a frequently asked question in our shops, especially among new users of electronic cigarettes.  We believe it is important to know exactly what it is we are putting into our bodies.

Most e-liquids are made up of a very simple list of ingredients.  While we cannot speak for all e-liquid manufacturers, we can explain what goes into the e-liquid that you order from Vixen Vapors.  At Vixen Vapors, there are two main ingredients that are used to make our e-liquids: Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin.  There are three possible additives that can be used as well, but only upon request.  These three ingredients are Nicotine, Menthol, and Pure Grain Alcohol (PGA).

Propylene Glycol is an organic compound comprised of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms.  It is colorless, nearly odorless, and faintly sweet.  Propylene Glycol is commonly found in food, sodas, cosmetics, medications, fog machines, tattoo ink, and many other places.  In e-liquid, Propylene Glycol is used to create a better flavor production and more throat hit.  We use only food grade, USP/EP grade Propylene Glycol.

Vegetable Glycerin or Vegetable Glycerol is a simple polyol compound comprised of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms.  It is also organic.  It is colorless, odorless, viscous, and faintly sweet.  Vegetable Glycerin is found in pharmaceutical products, hygiene products, food products, and many other places.  In e-liquid, Vegetable Glycerin is responsible for the amount of water vapor produced by an electronic cigarette.  It also softens the throat hit and can mute the flavor.

Nicotine is a colorless, poisonous compound occurring naturally in the tobacco plant.  Nicotine is the substance in tobacco products to which smokers can become addicted.  Nicotine is an alkaloid.  Our nicotine comes from an FDA approved lab.

Pure Grain Alcohol or PGA is a thin clear liquid commonly found and consumed in liquor.  In e-liquid, PGA is responsible for thinning the e-liquid (when it is primarily Vegetable Glycerin based) to allowing it to flow through wicking systems better.  It also provides a greater throat hit.

Menthol is an organic compound made synthetically or obtained from corn mint, peppermint or other mint oils.  It is a waxy, crystalline substance that is clear or white in color.  It is solid at room temperature and melts when slightly above room temperature.  In e-liquid, it is based in Propylene Glycol and used in moderation to provide various levels of effect.

All of the flavorings that are used in Vixen Vapors e-liquids are based in Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, or PGA. While we can't give you all the specific ingredients that make up each individual flavor we use, we work hard to ensure we are purchasing high quality flavors from reputable suppliers that are free of additives such as Diacetyl and Acetyl Propionyl. While we have not yet been able to send our flavors off for laboratory testing, we are planning on doing this in the future to ensure the quality of our products!

With a lot of misinformation floating around the industry and causing confusion, Vixen Vapors believes in transparency to ensure that our consumers know we hold ourselves to the highest standards in the industry and provide only the highest quality products available.  We want to make sure that you know what you are putting into your body.  If you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask us through any of our channels of communication.  We will not hesitate to provide the best answers and ease the worries of our consumers.
